Caring for your Jewellery

Handmade with Meaning, Worn with Love - How to care for your piece.

Your jewellery has been made by hand, with patience and intention. With a little extra care along the way, it can be worn, loved, and lived in for years to come.

Here are a few simple ways to care for it.

General Jewellery Tips

  • Avoid moisture: Remove your jewellery before swimming, showering, or doing the dishes - water, especially saltwater or chlorine, can dull the finish and affect the metal over time.
  • Keep away from chemicals: Perfume, lotions, and cleaning products can react with silver and gold.
  • Store it safely: Keep your piece in a soft pouch or separate box when you’re not wearing it, away from humidity and direct sunlight.

Sterling Silver

  • Sterling silver naturally warms and darkens over time — it’s part of its charm. If it begins to tarnish, you can gently revive the shine with a soft polishing cloth (I always recommend a proper jewellery cloth).
  • Wearing your silver often actually helps prevent tarnish — your skin’s natural oils are the perfect polish.

Gold Jewellery

  • Gold is wonderfully low-maintenance, but still appreciates a little love. If it needs a clean, use warm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth — gentle is best.

Aftercare for Inlay Memorial Jewellery

  • Your memorial jewellery has been lovingly crafted using your loved one’s ashes and a durable resin inlay. To help preserve its beauty and strength, please follow the care guidelines below.

Keep dry and chemical-free

  • Avoid wearing your jewellery while swimming, showering, or cleaning. Water and household chemicals can gradually weaken the resin and dull its finish.

Store safely

  • When not being worn, keep your piece in a soft pouch or box to protect it from scratches and sunlight. Prolonged UV exposure can cause the resin to yellow over time.

Avoid impact and heat

  • Resin is strong but not unbreakable. Dropping your piece or exposing it to high heat may cause it to crack or warp, especially if the design is delicate.

Clean gently

  • Use a soft, dry cloth to polish your jewellery. Avoid jewellery cleaners or abrasive materials, as these may damage the inlay. With a little care, your memorial jewellery will remain a meaningful and lasting tribute for many years to come.

The Beauty of Wear

  • The beauty of a well-loved piece lies in its journey. Over time, your ring may show gentle signs of wear—that’s part of its story. If the inlay ever becomes damaged or loses its shine, I’d be honoured to restore it with a refresh, clean, or polish.

Your jewellery is made to be worn, loved, and lived in - and I'm honoured to be part of that journey with you.
